My purpose as an artist is to convey the passion and emotion I feel about my subjects. I love the sensual feel of flowers, their organic shape, the way light and shadow plays with them, their translucency and their opacity and the colors, well that goes without saying. I paint what my mind knows and what my eye sees. I often photograph my subjects to capture the flowers at a specific moment in time. It is within those many photographs, I find the inspiration for my paintings.
Driven by creativity, Ellen has had an ongoing love affair with flowers and color as long as she can remember. While studying design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, she took a particular interest in botanical life. With a career in the commercial end of art and design for many years, she expanded her artistic interests with a culinary career inclusive of serving as a cake artist and designer of sugar flowers. Her passion for flowers has also been expressed through gardening and landscape design. This creative journey has led her back to fine art with her floral oil paintings, whimsical style still life paintings, pastels and photography. Her passion for her subjects is evident in her work.
Ellen, resides in northern New Jersey with her husband, & their two children. Her paintings are exhibited in shows, and in private collections throughout the country.
